Brown & Company aim to offer a quality service to the Construction Industry, and are therefore accredited with all the necessary bodies within the Industry to achieve that aim.

 

CHAS - Contractors Health & Safety Assessment Scheme

CHAS - Contractors Health & Safety Assessment SchemeCHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK. It is a non-commercial scheme available to suppliers (those who provide goods and services) and to organisations (buyers) looking for suitably competent suppliers.

Membership includes the public sectors: health trusts, emergency services and government departments and large private companies who have a supply chain.

 

Constructionline

ConstructionlineConstructionline is the UK's register of pre-qualified local and national construction and construction-related contractors and consultants. Owned and endorsed by the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (formerly the DTI), Constructionline is a contributor to the Rethinking Construction initiative.

We gather and assess pre-qualification information on behalf of public and private sector procurers and provide them with access to over 14,000 fully accredited suppliers free of charge. In addition, we also help contractors and consultants by reducing the need for them to fill-in pre-qualification forms for every tender and provide them with access to over 1,700 buyers.

Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA)

Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA)Founded over 100 years ago, the Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA) is the UK's largest and leading trade association representing electrical, electronic, installation engineering and building services companies.

Recognised by government, commerce and industry as the authoritative voice of the sector, the ECA is among the nation's best resourced representative associations.

The Association works closely with government and key national bodies to improve industry standards and procedures. Its comprehensive, progressive and innovative services are highly respected and renowned throughout the industry.

 

National Inspection Council for Electrical Installations (NICEIC)

National Inspection Council for Electrical Installations (NICEIC)NICEIC acts as the electrical contracting industry’s independent voluntary regulatory body for electrical installation safety matters throughout the UK. It maintains and publishes registers of electrical contractors that have been assessed against Scheme requirements, including the national electrical safety standard BS 7671, the IEE Wiring Regulations.

The registers NICEIC maintains and publishes include the national Roll of Approved Contractors (established in 1956), and the Register of Domestic Installers. Since January 2005, Domestic Installers have been authorised to self-certify their domestic electrical installation work as compliant with the Building Regulations for England and Wales.

 

Joint Industry Board

Joint Industry BoardJIB, is the collective term for the partnership between the ECA and Unite as distinct from the administrative organisation which was created to carry out their joint decisions.

The Electrical Contracting Industry comprises a great number of private enterprise firms, ranging from firms employing one man to firms employing more than a thousand. It employs a large number of skilled men-time served, qualified electricians comprise 90% of its labour force.

It is mainly engaged in the Construction Industry and undertakes a wide variety of work, ranging from a simple electrical installation within a private house to the electrical work associated with the construction of a power station. Other types of specialised installation work-instrumentation, microelectronics, security devices and detectors, computer peripheral equipment including remote terminals, robotics, data communication equipment and ship work.
